Front Door Make Over

And it finally gets on your....very....last....nerve! That's when the project begins! We have been in our wonderful house for 10, almost 11 years now. I kept thinking that I would eventually get used to the super dark wood on the front door. That the deep scratch marks sweet Scarlette put on the door as she was trying to see if the person ringing the bell was one of the boys or the UPS man with a package would somehow escape my notice. That the  1/8 inch gap under the door would close on its on (see the sunlight peeping through at the bottom??). And I could go on, but I think you get the picture! At some point, we will replace this door. But, in the meantime, there are college fees and mission trips and vacations to be had. So, a little creativity comes along, and I thought I would share it with you.

Yes, you can see the scratch marks even better on this image! Just sayin'! And that one, lone white panel on the right side with only one coat of paint? Yes, that was my BIG project in January on a cold and nasty day that I didn't bother finishing. I am the queen of unfinished projects!!

So, this weekend, I decided to tackle and finish this project. It almost happened! But not quite....

But, I DID complete the side panels and painted one coat of the blue (One Step TICK TOCK by Amy Howard--you are welcome! ) Craig was a little surprised that the door and the panels were different colors. Then, I showed him a couple of pics from pinterest, and he could see the finished product, and he was good! My next project (after this one is completely finished this week!) is to paint the walls in the hallway and up the stairs white. Big ideas....fingers crossed!! Promise to post the finished door picture this week in another post. :)

Sweet blessings,
Susan
